How to Care for a Woven Cotton Blanket — So It Lasts a Lifetime

"Treat it like an heirloom — and it will last like one."

A woven jacquard blanket is not a fast-fashion throw. The design is built into the cloth itself, thread by thread — which means with a little care, it can stay beautiful for decades and be passed down like the heirloom it was made to be. Here is everything you need to know.

Washing

Machine wash cold or cool (max 30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle, with a mild detergent. Skip bleach and fabric softeners entirely — bleach attacks the dyed yarns, and softener coats the cotton fibers and dulls the woven texture. Wash it alone or with similar colors the first few times.

Drying

Air dry whenever possible — lay it flat or hang it over a wide rail, away from direct sunlight, which fades any textile over time. If you must use a dryer, choose the lowest heat setting and remove the blanket while slightly damp.

"Wash cool. Skip the bleach. Air dry away from sun."

Storing and Displaying

When not in use, fold it loosely and store it in a dry, ventilated place — never in plastic. If it hangs on a wall as a tapestry, rotate it occasionally and keep it out of harsh afternoon light. Loose threads? Never pull — simply trim them with scissors.

Woven Into Every Thread

Every CalmNestStyle blanket is 100% cotton and truly woven — the design is built directly into the fabric using different colored yarns on a jacquard loom. Nothing is printed, ironed on, or applied afterward. That is why, cared for well, the design never fades, peels, or cracks — it is part of the fabric itself.

"The design isn't on the fabric. The design IS the fabric."

Choose a piece worth caring for. Give it as a gift of faith.
